Description
This activity will bring together a multidisciplinary faculty of gynecologists, urologists, psychologists, and other women’s healthcare experts to explore modern approaches to the management of female sexuality issues. The outstanding faculty will present evidence-based lectures on a wide variety of topics related to female sexuality, including estrogen therapy, testosterone therapy, decreased libido, vulva and vaginal diseases, and sex after cancer. The goal of this activity is to improve the knowledge of primary care providers and, thus, improve the quality of care for women with sexual dysfunction.
Target Audience
This activity is directed to primary care physicians, physician assistants, OB-GYNs, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals who manage the challenges and complications of female sexual dysfunction.
Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant will be able to do the following:
- Define the major female sexual disorders;
- Describe barriers to physicians identifying and treating patients’ sexual problems;
- Outline techniques for office assessment and initial treatment of female sexual problems;
- Summarize the guidelines for identifying hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) in peri- and postmenopausal women;
- Review the treatment options for HSDD available to women in the United States and Canada, including testosterone therapies;
- Discuss novel therapies for female sexual dysfunction;
- Understand specific vulvar and vaginal syndromes that can affect female sexual function and identify appropriate therapies for these vulvo-vaginal disorders;
- Create a patient care plan designed to improve sexual function in women diagnosed with cancer.

The Ohio Board of Nursing will accept at face value the number of contact hours awarded for an educational activity that has been approved for CE by a nationally accredited system of CE approval.
