Description

This one-day course focuses on the concept that chronic pain should be considered a disease and not just a symptom. Various chronic pain conditions will be discussed and state-of-the-art approaches in diagnosis and management will be considered.

The course begins with a shared set of lectures for all attendees. After lunch, two tracks are available to the attendees:

  • Physician track - when surgery is an option, sacroiliac pain, and chronic pain rehabilitation.

  • Nursing/Allied Health Care professional’s track - complex regional pain syndrome or reflex sympathetic dystrophy syndrome (CRPS/RSD), physical therapy, diagnostic maneuvers, and basic anatomy.

The emphasis will be focused on how the health care professional can sort out the nature of chronic pain, and what they can do to help their chronic pain patients to improve their quality of life. Special emphasis will be placed on interventional pain management options and when to consult the pain management specialist.
