Contemporary Issues
in Pituitary Disease:
Case-based Management Update
April 9, 2010
Cleveland Clinic
Lerner Research Institute
Room NA5-08 (Amphitheater, 5th Floor)
Cleveland, Ohio
Description
Pituitary tumors are more common than generally thought, with a prevalence of about 10% on MR imaging in the general population. At the same time, many endocrinologists and internists may not have sufficient exposure to deal confidently with a variety of pituitary disorders. If not properly treated, pituitary disorders may result in significant morbidity and lower life expectancy.
This one-day program will place a heavy emphasis on case discussions to review the best strategies for evaluation and management of pituitary disorders by some of the finest experts in this field. The speakers will share their experience from interesting and/or challenging cases that they have faced. There will be ample time for discussion and questions.
Target Audience
Endocrinologists, family medicine and internal medicine physicians, allied health care providers and neurosurgeons.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

- Review common pitfalls in biochemical evaluation of patients with pituitary disorders.
- Discuss interesting and/or challenging pituitary cases with participating clinicians.
- Discuss new advances in surgical management and radiotherapy of patients with pituitary disorders.
