InterContinental Hotel and Bank of America Conference Center
The purpose of the Cleveland Clinic 2012 Personalized Healthcare Summit is to educate about clinically-relevant applications of personalized healthcare, the research behind these discoveries, and solutions to incorporate personalized healthcare into clinical practice.
This Summit, to be held on May 31, 2012, is the second such event presented by the Cleveland Clinic’s Center for Personalized Healthcare. The Center was established in January 2011 as a strategic initiative designed to improve healthcare delivery and access through the development of innovative tools and educational approaches to facilitate and encourage pro-active, targeted and preventive care.
The day-long Summit CME event, held at the Cleveland Clinic, will consist of a series of talks, panels and interactive presentations by expert clinicians from a variety of medical settings. The long term goal is to provide attendees with the knowledge to improve patient health and wellness by incorporating the pro-active and preventive principals of personalized healthcare
The target audience is primary care physicians as well as practitioners, thought leaders and interested researchers in all areas of health and medicine.
As a result of attending this symposium, the
participant will be able to do the following:
- Discuss basic principles of genetics and genomics
- Distinguish the contribution of genetics to common disorders of adult-hood
- Appreciate the role of genetic counselors in the evaluation of patients
- Discuss top ethical-legal-societal implications related to personalized healthcare
- Recognize non-genetic/genomic predictive tools and information which can enable personalized patient care
- Assess the current and future use of pharmacogenetics in clinical practice
- Explore controversies in research study design related to personalized healthcare
