Course Description

Identifying and managing CIED infections can be challenging. This satellite symposium will focus on prevention, recognition and CIED infection management. Didactic presentations, case studies and panel discussions, led by nationally recognized leaders, are designed to provide the best evidence-based recommendations.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe the prevention and treatment of CIED infection, including the choice and duration of antibiotic therapy both as prophylaxis and treatment;
  2. Discuss and differentiate the wide range of symptoms of CIED infection
  3. Describe the pathophysiology of CIED infection and its relation to management implications
  4. Critically appraise factors that may influence the choice of surgical pocket management versus palliative alternatives
  5. Review and assess new options and ongoing clinical trials in the prevention of CIED infections
