Course Overview

This program, presented by Cleveland Clinic Genomic Medicine Institute, will provide the opportunity to review the latest advances in genetics and genomics and provide state-of-the-art information to healthcare providers treating patients with genetic conditions. Expert Cleveland Clinic faculty will present case-based presentations highlighting the integration of genetics and genomics into clinical practice across multiple disciplines.

This activity is designed for healthcare providers specializing in Primary Care, Cardiology, Genetics, Neurology, Oncology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics and Nursing. Trainees and students with an interest in expanding their knowledge of genomic medicine and related topics are encouraged to attend.

Course Objectives

After completing this educational activity, attendees will be able to do the following:

  • Explore the current and future landscape of genetic & genomic medicine in clinical practice
  • Review ethical, social, and legal implications (ELSIs) impacting the delivery of care for patients with genetic disorders
  • Discuss practical approaches for the diagnosis, evaluation and management of patients with common genetic disorders
  • Explore reimbursement and cost-saving strategies for genetic and genomic services
  • Analyze current, emerging, and future genetic testing technologies
  • Review clinical case conundrums from various specialty and subspecialty groups (Cardiology, Endocrinology, Neurology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Oncology, Pediatrics)
