Overview

The goal of this educational activity is to provide participants with an intensive review of endocrinology and metabolism, which would also be helpful for certification.

Faculty members were selected for their clinical and teaching experience. The lecture format is heavily weighted to board simulation. An interactive Audience Response System will be employed to facilitate audience participation. A comprehensive syllabus will be provided.

Target Audience

This course is directed to practicing endocrinologists and other physicians with an interest in endocrinology, metabolism, and diabetes.

Objectives

As a result of attending this Board Review, the participant will be able to do the following:

  • Describe diabetes control and complications;
  • Interpret tests to evaluate hypo- and hyperadrenalism and apply the results to endocrine hypertension;
  • Analyze thyroid tests and apply results to thyroid disorders;
  • Review evaluation and treatment of osteoporosis and calcium disorders;
  • Appraise patients with hypogonadism and pituitary disorders;
  • Diagnose important pediatric endocrine disorders;
  • Evaluate endocrine disorders during pregnancy;
  • Identify genetic disorders in endocrinology;
  • Discuss the indications and consequences of new interventional therapeutic procedures;
  • Undertake board simulation question and answers.

Ground Transportation/Parking

Taxi service is available from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport to the InterContinental Hotel and Bank of America Conference Center. As an alternative, take the rapid transit train from the airport to the Terminal Tower in downtown Cleveland and from there take a taxi to the InterContinental Hotel and Bank of America Conference Center.

Parking is available in the 100th Street Visitor’s Parking Garage for a charge of $10 per day. Valet parking is available at the hotel for an additional charge.

Accreditation

The Cleveland Clinic Foundation Center for Continuing Education (the Center) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians and has a strict policy to govern control of its accredited activities.

This activity is being planned and implemented by the Activity Directors, with oversight from the Center, to ensure compliance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the ACCME. Invited faculty must disclose all financial relationships that may be perceived as a potential conflict of interest before being confirmed for the activity.

The Cleveland Clinic Foundation Center for Continuing Education has certified this educational activity for 21.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.

Participants claiming CME credit from this activity may submit the credit hours to the American Osteopathic Association Council on Continuing Medical Education for Category 2 credit.

Registration & Cancellation

Pre-registrations are accepted by fax or online until 4:00 pm ET September 29, 2009. To register after this date you must do so on-site.

In case of cancellation, a full refund will be made if canceled by September 16, 2009. After September 16, 2009, a $50 cancellation fee will be deducted from your refund. Written notification of your cancellation is required in order to process your refund.

NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED AFTER OCTOBER 31, 2009.
