Perioperative medical complications significantly increase morbidity and mortality, as well as the financial cost, associated with surgical procedures. Our goal is to enable clinicians who are actively engaged in perioperative medical care to incorporate the latest findings from clinical research into their office and/or hospital practices so that they can improve the quality and safety of their medical care.

The first day will be dedicated to spasticity management in the adult patient, more specifically patient selection, treatment planning, and measurement of outcomes. We will discuss how to optimize functional outcomes by combining interventions, and how to manage spasticity in more challenging populations (e.g. multiple sclerosis).
On the second day, Cleveland Clinic Pediatric Spasticity Team Physicians will discuss medical management of spasticity for the pediatric patient. Keynote speaker, Sandy Ross, PT, will address the question, “Is a Spastic Muscle a Strong Muscle?”
