Accelerated Phase
(Requires one or more of the following criteria):
Blast Phase
(Requires one or more of the following criteria):
  • Blasts comprising 10 to 19% of the peripheral blood WBCs and/or of nucleated bone marrow cells
  • >20% peripheral blood basophils
  • Persistent thrombocytopenia (<100 x 109/L) unrelated to treatment
  • Persistent thrombocytosis (>1000 x 109/L) unresponsive to treatment
  • Increasing splenomegaly or leukocytosis unresponsive to treatment
  • Cytogenetic evidence of clonal evolution
  • Blasts composing >20% of peripheral blood WBCs or of nucleated bone marrow cells
  • Extramedullary blast proliferation
  • Large foci or clusters of blasts in the bone marrow biopsy
