2011 HIV Virtual Grand Rounds
Webcast Series
For many patients, the advent of highly active antiretroviral therapy has transformed HIV from a precipitous infection to a chronic condition controlled with well-tolerated and convenient oral therapy. Although evidence-based treatment guidelines underscore the importance of early recognition and therapy initiation, about 1 in 4 persons in the United States infected with HIV is undiagnosed. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that providers include HIV testing as a part of routine patient care.
This educational initiative is designed to provide healthcare providers with the most current information on effective screening, diagnosis, and treatment of HIV in the primary care setting.
In this 2011 HIV Virtual Grand Rounds series, a panel of experts in HIV care will demonstrate best clinical practices in the primary care management of patients with HIV with a series of case-based activities.
