Description

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
- Apply appropriate techniques for management of increased intracranial pressure.
- Discuss glucose management in the diabetic patient.
- Discuss the risk factors for injury and preventive management in the morbidly obese.
- Describe the indications and complications of osmotic diuretic use during craniotomy.
- Explain the methods used to predict difficult airway management in the morbidly obese patient.
- Manage safe sedation during awake fiber-optic intubation in morbidly obese patients with a history of sleep apnea.
- Evaluate the use of transesophageal echocardiography during cranial surgery.
- Describe the management of venous air embolism during neurosurgery.
- Discuss problems associated with the sitting position.
