Dysphagia
A 35-year-old man with a history of asthma since childhood presents to the
Emergency Department after attempting to eat a steak dinner at a local
restaurant. He has not been able to swallow solids or liquids since his first bite
of steak 2 hours ago. He complains of mid-sternal chest pressure. His EKG is
unremarkable, and his CK and troponins are normal. A gastroenterologist performs an endoscopy, removes the meat bolus, and notes that the esophagus appears to have multiple rings.
