Description

Liver Update helps health care providers who treat patients with liver disease stay abreast of current research and clinical trials presented at the recent American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) meeting. Expert faculty present the most clinically germane research, synthesize the findings, and discuss their implications for clinical practice. This series provides a valuable opportunity for practitioners not able to attend the national meeting to stay abreast of the most clinically important research.

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify key predictors for variceal bleeding in cirrhotics.
  2. Articulate the role of antibiotics in cirrhotics with bleeding esophageal varices.
  3. Define the treatment options for hepatic encephalopathy.
  4. Summarize the relationship of lean body mass to bouts of hepatic encephalopathy.
