COURSE DESCRIPTION
Palliative medicine is developing rapidly in the United States. This course focuses on providing an intensive multi-disciplinary review of cutting edge topics in the field. The intent is to provide updates on concepts of current interest, and examine recent advances in the field in a format that allows interaction between the faculty and attendees. This course is intended for physicians, nurses, social workers and pharmacists with an interest in palliative medicine.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
As a result of attending this course, the participant will be able to:

  • Discuss advances in pain and symptom management
  • Describe administrative strategies in the development and advancement of palliative medicine
  • Discuss current concepts of psychosocial care in palliative medicine
  • Integrate current research in palliative medicine in the practice setting
  • Define controversial issues in the care of patients with advanced disease
