Description

The webcast series is repurposed from the Platelet Response in Acute Coronary Syndrome symposium held October 18, 2008, in Cleveland, Ohio. This series presents an overview of new and up-to-date research on the management of patients with ACS. It is designed to increase knowledge of current therapeutic strategies, cardiac assessment and diagnosis, and biologic platelet responses, with the ultimate goal of improving the care of cardiac patients.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant will be able to do the following:

  1. Describe the role of platelets in thrombosis and the development of acute coronary syndromes.
  2. Relate the performance of platelet function tests.
  3. Compare the predictive value of platelet function tests in their association with adverse cardiovascular events.

Target Audience

Cardiologists, emergency medicine physicians, primary care physicians, and healthcare practitioners (including nurse practitioners and physician assistants) with an interest in acute coronary artery disease.

Accreditation

The Cleveland Clinic Foundation Center for Continuing Education is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
