Description

Innovations in Surgery is a series of CME-certified webcasts that allow participants to view prerecorded demonstrations and discussions of new and innovative minimally invasive procedures, devices, and techniques. The monthly series of archived webcasts features presentations by and discussions with nationally renowned experts at prestigious medical centers.

The Robotically Assisted Pancreatic Surgery webcast reviews the theoretical advantages, technical aspects, results and limitations of robotic pancreatectomy.

Learning Objectives

  1. Discuss advantages of robot 3D stereoscopic vision, image stability, motion scaling and muscle tremor filters, comfort for the operator, unlimited degree of motion.
  2. Identify oncological results: robotic pancreatoduodenectomy could be performed with an optimal standard lymphadenectomy, with similar dissection as open technique.
  3. Perform a cost analysis of robotic pancreatic surgery and determine the one that seems to have higher operative cost and lower hospital stay costs, achieving a similar total cost of open and laparoscopic patients.

Target Audience

These activities are directed to practicing surgeons and other health practitioners who care for patients undergoing minimally invasive surgery.
