The satellite symposium will present insights into the obesity epidemic and strategies to manage the cardiovascular risks associated with this condition including glucose lowering, cardiovascular risk reduction, and intensive lipid modification.

Learning Objectives

1. Assess the link between obesity and CV Risk
2. Assess medical therapies to treat obesity and diabetes
3. Define the role of bariatric surgery in the management of obesity and type 2 diabetes
4. Recognize the role of ectopic fat accumulation versus BMI alone in the pathophysiology of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease 5. Manage associated risk factors to mediate CV morbidity and mortality related to obesity
