Overview

Significant advances have been made in gynecologic surgery in the last few years.  This has had notable impact upon diagnosis, treatment, and post-surgical care.

Advances in Gynecologic Surgery: Surgical Innovations and State-of-the-Art Perioperative Care will address trends, innovations in gynecologic surgery, advanced laparoscopy and hysteroscopy, robotic surgery, alternatives to hysterectomy, urinary incontinence, and pelvic organ prolapse.

The intent of this course is to provide updates on the latest advances in the field of gynecologic surgery in a format that allows interaction between the faculty and attendees.

Target Audience

This educational activity is designed for gynecologists, gynecological surgeons, interventional radiologists, obstetricians, urologists, general surgeons, and healthcare professionals interested in women’s health, surgical gynecological innovations, and preoperative care.

Objectives

After completing this learning activity, the participant will be able to do the following:

  • Discuss state-of-the-art preoperative and postoperative care of the gynecologic surgery patient.
  • Describe the novel and innovative approaches in gynecologic surgery and determine their most appropriate indications.
  • List the potential complications of gynecologic surgery and describe methods for prevention and management of those complications.
  • Describe the risks and benefits of alternatives to hysterectomy and evaluate their efficacy in preserving the uterus while treating the underlying condition.
  • Assess the role of minimally invasive approaches including laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, and robotics in the management of the gynecologic surgery patient.
  • Compare and contrast traditional and innovative approaches in the management of female urinary incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse.
