Overview

The Kaufman Center for Heart Failure at Cleveland Clinic in cooperation with the American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS) and the American College of Cardiology Foundation (ACCF) are pleased to provide an educational event for all health care providers who specialize in the treatment of heart failure; 21st Century Treatment of Heart Failure: Synchronizing Surgical and Medical Therapies for Better Outcomes.

Three of America's leading cardiovascular specialty organizations have come together to address the growing problem of heart failure and together they offer the most advanced review of the current and future medical and surgical treatments for this disease. 21st Century Treatment of Heart Failure will feature presentations by leading experts in cardiovascular medicine and cardiac surgery.

This year's meeting will convene at the InterContinental Hotel and Bank of America Conference Center, a state-of-the-art conference facility featuring a 600-seat amphitheater with high-tech audiovisual and telecommunications capabilities.

Objectives

After participating in this program, the participants should be able to:

  • Understand the most recent trials and clinical applications for the management of acute heart failure
  • Define the epidemiology and management of heart failure with preserved systolic function
  • List the medical and surgical therapies for end-stage heart failure including the role of “conventional” surgery and transplantation
  • Utilize the new ACC/AHA guidelines for describing the recommended strategies for caring for patients with heart failure in Stages A through D
  • Define strategies for handling the complex clinical scenario of adult congenital heart disease
