Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms abound in veterans returning from the Middle East. PTSD can become a chronic, debilitating condition affecting the veteran, family and community.
The Cleveland Clinic invites you to a day of learning and interactive discussion with four nationally recognized specialists and your peers, united in the concern to meet the mental health needs of people living with PTSD in our nation. The symposium will focus on identifying the optimal treatment strategies for PTSD and Substance Use Disorders (SUD) in trauma survivors, veterans and their significant others.
Target audiencePsychologists, Psychiatrists, Primary Care Physicians, Emergency Room Physicians, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Licensed Counselors, Chemical Dependency Professionals, Social Workers, Pastoral Counselors, Ministers and other healthcare professionals who are involved in the diagnosis and treatment of PTSD.
OBJECTIVES
As a result of attending this symposium, the participant will be
able to:
- Identify advanced clinical practices for patients with PTSD.
- Review psycho-spiritual healing techniques and dangers of spiritual abuse.
- Examine the advances in mind-body-spirit interventions for trauma victims from theoretical, research and clinical perspectives.
- Survey the benefits of trauma focused group therapy for PTSD patients and their families.
- Clarify the role of substance use in families’ attributions and affective reactions to their relative with severe mental illness.
- Determine emergent methods for developing and enhancing health care professionals’ clinical treatment of trauma survivors.
- Examine group dynamics, studies and clinical application for health care practice.

Take I-71 or I-77 north to downtown Cleveland. Exit onto Carnegie
Avenue eastbound. The hotel is about two miles from the freeway exit.

Follow I-90 west toward Cleveland. Exit at Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
(Exit 177). Turn left (south) on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and proceed about three miles to
105th Street. Turn right (south) on 105th Street. Turn right onto Carnegie Avenue to E. 100th
Street. Turn right onto E. 100th Street and left into the hotel driveway.
FROM THE WEST:

Parking
The InterContinental Hotel has valet parking for $10 per day. Alternatively, parking is available

The Cleveland Clinic Foundation Center for Continuing Education is accredited by the
Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical
education for physicians.
The Cleveland Clinic Foundation Center for Continuing Education designates this educational activity for a maximum of 7.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

November 7, 2008. No refunds will be given after November 7, but registration is transferable
through November 21, 2008. A $50 cancellation fee will be deducted from the refund for all
