Target Audience
The target audience for this course includes: cardiovascular medicine, cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons, internists and nurses.
Objectives
After completing this activity, the attendee will be able to do the following:
- Incorporate current and emerging clinical evidence in the comprehensive assessment and management of cardiovascular patients with, or at increased risk for, diabetes, lipid disorders and/or hypertension.
- Apply pharmacological and interventional management strategies for patients with acute coronary syndrome.
- Employ current methods of diagnosis and management with patients experiencing chronic coronary artery disease.
- Employ guideline-based assessment, treatment and management strategies in patients with cardiac and electrical failure.
- Demonstrate optimal use of pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies for atrial fibrillation, including rate, rhythm control and ablation.
- Implement evidence-based, contemporary approaches for the medical and surgical management of heart valve disease.
- Evaluate diagnostic strategies for patients with cardiovascular disease
- Utilize guidelines for describing the recommended strategies for caring for patients with heart failure in Stages A through D.
