Objectives

After completing this activity, the attendee will be able to do the following:

  • Incorporate current and emerging clinical evidence in the comprehensive assessment and management of cardiovascular patients with, or at increased risk for, diabetes, lipid disorders and/or hypertension.
  • Apply pharmacological and interventional management strategies for patients with acute coronary syndrome.
  • Employ current methods of diagnosis and management with patients experiencing chronic coronary artery disease.
  • Employ guideline-based assessment, treatment and management strategies in patients with cardiac and electrical failure.
  • Demonstrate optimal use of pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies for atrial fibrillation, including rate, rhythm control and ablation.
  • Implement evidence-based, contemporary approaches for the medical and surgical management of heart valve disease.
  • Evaluate diagnostic strategies for patients with cardiovascular disease
  • Utilize guidelines for describing the recommended strategies for caring for patients with heart failure in Stages A through D.
