Description
Diabetes Day: Controversies in Diabetes is an educational activity focusing on up-to-date reviews of advances in
management strategies for patients with diabetes. The goal of this course is to increase the competencies and
performance of health care professionals involved in treating this patient population, which, ultimately, will improve
patient outcomes.
Target Audience
Primary care physicians, endocrinologists, diabetes educators, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and
other health care professionals who take care of patients with diabetes.
Objectives
After completing this learning activity, the participant will be able to do the following:
- Interpret recent data that has affected guidelines for diabetes management;
- Discuss the pros and cons regarding the glycemic levels in the diagnosis of diabetes;
- Review the implications of beta cell preservation, glucose control, and insulin use in diabetes management;
- Describe the controversies surrounding dyslipidemia and blood pressure monitoring in diabetes.

In case of cancellation, a full refund will be made if canceled by September 10, 2010. After September 10, 2010, a $50 cancellation fee will be deducted from your refund. Written notification of your cancellation is required to process your refund.
