COURSE DESCRIPTION

This annual hands-on symposium, which includes seven hours for surgical skills hands-on lab, is designed to introduce the attendees to new and emerging techniques in third space endoscopy/endoscopic intramural surgery within the gastrointestinal tract. This course will feature hot topics in diagnostic and therapeutic interventions in third space endoscopy/endoscopic intramural surgery by Cleveland Clinic world-renowned experts. The seven-hour interactive hands-on skills lab includes POEM, G-POEM (POP), ESD, Z-POEM, tissue closure/apposition and more.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

After participating in this educational activity, practitioners will be able to do the following:

  • Demonstrate and describe the basic techniques and indications for esophageal and gastric POEM for the management of foregut motility disorders
  • Demonstrate and describe the basic techniques and indications for esophageal, gastric and colorectal ESD
  • Review the adverse events associated with third space endoscopy and their management
  • Demonstrate the techniques and devices used for third space endoscopy and their implementation in practice.

TARGET AUDIENCE

This course is designed for health care providers practicing endoscopy including gastroenterologists, general surgeons, advanced endoscopists, surgical endoscopists, trainees, nurses and technicians. This activity strives to produce significant knowledge gains that will, in turn, have positive effects on improving the quality of care for patients. This course also helps attendees in starting and incorporating third space endoscopy in their practice.
