About the Course

This regional symposium will focus on providing an in-depth and up-to-date review of the detection and management of breast cancer. Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, General Practice, Oncologists, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants and Residents/Fellows with an interest in the management of patients with breast cancer should attend this course.

Learning Objectives

As a result of attending the course, the participant will be able to:

  • Describe the benefits of hormonal therapy and management strategies available to help women
    maintain their adherence to the medication.
  • Discuss the latest data on management of breast pain and when to refer out to a specialist.
  • Evaluate nipple discharge to differentiate between benign and malignant characteristics that need
    further evaluation.
  • Identify causes of a delay in the diagnosis in breast cancer.
  • Identify options to manage chemotherapy induced neuropathy.
  • Identify patients at risk for lymphedema and help them be aware of options available for prevention
    today.
  • Identify the aspects of integrative medicine that help improve the quality of life for the breast
    cancer patient.
