Acute Coronary Syndrome
Virtual Grand Rounds
Because therapies for the acute coronary syndromes (ACS) are
continually evolving, this case-based series will keep clinicians abreast
of the key issues and important nuances that will influence the strategies they design for managing their patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction and non–ST-elevation ACS. Through this educational initiative from the Cleveland Clinic Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart & Vascular Institute, experts in cardiology will offer their unique perspectives on various topics, including early invasive vs conservative management, fibrinolysis vs primary percutaneous intervention, stent thrombosis, selection and administration of antiplatelet and anticoagulant agents, and the potential role of new antithrombotic therapies. By melding cases with current data and providing participants with an opportunity to direct their questions to the faculty, this educational initiative is designed to provide a foundation for customizing therapeutic approaches to individual patients with ACS.

- Describe the appropriate use of antiplatelet drugs during treatment for UA/STEMI.
- Recognize which patients benefit from fibrinolytics vs PCI for the treatment of STEMI.
- Articulate the benefits of a system of care for STEMI and identify the factors necessary for its implementation.
Target Audience
This series is targeted to physicians who treat patients for coronary artery disease (CAD) or see patients at some point in the course of evaluation for potential UA or myocardial infarction (MI), such as primary care physicians, emergency room physicians, or cardiologists.
