Description

Objectives
- Discuss the definition of obesity and the comorbidities associated with obesity.
- Discuss the airway risks associated with obesity, including problems with ventilation and intubation.
- Describe the new Advanced Cardiac Life Support guidelines regarding airway management.
- Describe the value of the laryngeal mask airway (LMA) as a rescue device in both cannot intubate/can ventilate and cannot intubate/cannot ventilate scenarios.
- Discuss the value of the LMA as a conduit to intubation and the techniques for
implementing this approach. - Discuss the risks associated with using the LMA in obese patients.
