Description

The Cleveland Clinic presents Reaching New Heights: Preventing Venous Thromboembolism Throughout the Continuum of Care, on-demand webcasts series. This CME learning activity will focus on clinical practices for VTE prophylaxis in the following populations: medical patients, cancer surgery patients, and orthopedic surgery patients (including hip fracture, knee or hip replacement).

Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the participant will be able to:

  1. Discuss the lack of data supporting the use of IVC filters as prophylaxis in neurosurgical patients.
  2. Describe the clinical basis for the lack of use of pharmacologic VTE prophylaxis in gynecology-oncology surgery patients.
