Description This activity was presented at the Cleveland Clinic Richard J. Fasenmyer Center of Clinical Immunology Biologic Therapies for Autoimmune and Inflammatory Disease States Summit. The reviewed advances in biologic therapies for autoimmune diseases.
Target Audience This activity will be directed to rheumatologists, gastroenterologists, dermatologists, pulmonologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other health care professionals interested in or using biologic therapeutics in autoimmune and inflammatory disorders.
Objectives At the conclusion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
  1. Recognize the most common infections associated with the use of TNF-α inhibitors.
  2. List preventative screening measures to reduce infectious complications associated with the use of TNF-α inhibitors.
  3. Identify risks for opportunistic infections across available agents and classes.
  4. Identify granulomatous infections and treatment with available agents.
  5. Identify data on hepatic toxicity form biologic anti-rheumatic therapies.
