Description |
This activity was presented at the Cleveland Clinic Richard J. Fasenmyer Center of Clinical Immunology Biologic Therapies for Autoimmune and Inflammatory Disease States Summit. The reviewed advances in biologic therapies for autoimmune diseases. |
Objectives |
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
- Describe indications for prescribing TNF-alpha inhibitors for juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA).
- Recognize key safety information that prescribing health care professionals should be prepared to discuss with patients with JIA and their parents.
- Discuss what is known about immunizations in JIA patients on DMARDs and biological DMARDs.
- Describe the complexities of defining biologic failure.
- Identify issues related to TNF switching.
- Explain the effectiveness of switching to non-anti-TNF biologics.
- Describe biologic therapies for ankylosing spondylitis.
