Description |
The Medicine Today, Internal Medicine Webcast Series features on-demand
CME webcasts. Each webcast consists of an hour-long video presentation
and related questions following the video.

Objectives |
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
- Discuss the basic pathophysiology of the metabolic syndrome.
- Acquire recognition and appreciation of the major weight reduction operations performed currently.
- Describe complications and weight loss associated with bariatric surgery.
- Discuss the effect of bariatric surgery on components of the metabolic syndrome.
- Explain the role of bariatric surgery as a model for research into pathophysiologic mechanisms of insulin resistance and the metabolic syndrome.
