Overview

Palliative medicine is developing rapidly in the United States. This symposium focuses on providing an intensive multi-disciplinary review of cutting-edge topics in the field. The intent is to provide updates on concepts of current interest and examine recent advances in the field in a format that allows interaction between the faculty and attendees.    

Objectives

At the completion of this symposium, the attendee will be able to:

  • Integrate current research in palliative medicine into the practice setting.
  • Develop standards to improve care of the dying.
  • Describe the palliative issues in women with advanced ovarian malignancies.
  • Integrate interventional pain techniques into a comprehensive pain management program.
  • Provide palliative management to individuals living with advanced heart failure.
  • Describe the indication for surgical intervention in bone metastases.

Target Audience

This symposium is intended for an international audience of physicians, nurses, social workers, pharmacists, and other healthcare providers involved with palliative care of patients. In addition, healthcare professionals in the areas of gynecologic oncology, heart failure, and interventional pain management will benefit.
