Course Overview

The Heart, Vascular and Thoracic Institute at Cleveland Clinic Florida offers a broad range of treatment options for cardiovascular diseases. We appreciate the opportunity to share knowledge and provide high quality education to our colleagues across the care continuum.

With this in mind, Cleveland Clinic Florida will host the inaugural “Heart of the City: HVTI Cardiovascular Symposium” on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Margaritaville Resort in Hollywood Florida. Dr. Samir Kapadia, Chairman of Cardiology at Cleveland Clinic Main Campus in Ohio, will begin the day with the Keynote Address, “What’s Next: The Future of Cardiovascular Medicine.”  Six sessions with a series of four lectures each will follow. Case presentation and discussion by faculty and session panelists, also allowing for audience interaction, will be included at the end of each session.  A special “SHOCK Tank” session will include presentation of a case of cardiogenic shock with time for audience / faculty debate of best approaches.

Topics will include heart failure, coronary artery disease, valvular disease (including catheter and surgical approaches), electrophysiology, amyloid, and other Special Situations.

In addition to the above, trainees are encouraged to submit cases for an abstract competition, where the best case in each category will be invited to present their case at the podium.

The symposium is designed to be interdisciplinary and the team approach to management is evident with involvement of cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology, and intensive care medicine throughout the day.

By Participating, You Will Be Able To:

  • Compare and contrast the various treatments for structural heart disease such as aortic stenosis
  • Identify approaches to the management of common cardiac rhythm disturbances
  • Recognize and apply guideline-directed medical therapy for heart failure patients

Who Should Attend?

The symposium is directed to a national audience of practitioners and healthcare professionals (Physicians, Fellows, Residents, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Physician Assistants, Pharmacists and other health professionals), specializing in the fields of Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery and Intensive Care Medicine.
