The Basic and Clinical Immunology Webcast Series features webcasts by a faculty of experts and summarizes talks presented during the 8th Annual Basic and Clinical Immunology: What Is New and Hot in Immunology Symposium. Designed for busy clinicians who desire to increase their declarative and procedural knowledge in the field of IMIDs, data presented are essential to understanding their clinical application and predicting and preventing toxicity.

Making Sense of T Cell Subsets in Health and Disease webcast highlights each T cell subset and its role.

Learning Objectives

  1. List the characteristic effector cytokines produced by each of the 5 major CD4 T cell subsets.
  2. Describe the infections resulting from defects in TH1 or TH17, or Tfh cells.
  3. Describe the effect of TH2 cells overactivity on infections.
  4. Describe the role of TH17 cells in the induction of osteoclasts and the bone erosions associated with inflammatory arthritis. And, describe the effects of TH1 and TH2 cells on the induction of osteoclasts by TH17 cells.
  5. Describe non-classical TH1 cells (also know as ex-TH17 cells) and how the multiple cytokine produced by these cells complicate treatment.
  6. Describe tissue resident T cells and how they are involved in the Koebner phenomenon.

Target Audience

The educational activity is designed for rheumatologists, dermatologists, infectious disease, allergists, clinical immunologists, and specialists in integrative medicine, preventive medicine, wellness, primary care and other health care professionals caring for patients with immunologic diseases.
