Stay Abreast of Current Research and Clinical Trials at the Liver Update

This is a live, one-day CME educational event that enables the attendee to stay abreast of current research and clinical trials presented at the recent American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) meeting. Expert faculty will present the most clinically germane research, synthesize the findings, and discuss their implications for clinical practice.

Who Should Attend

This course is designed for all health care providers who treat patients with liver disease including gastroenterologists, hepatologists, gastrointestinal surgeons, internists, family practitioners, nurse practitioners, nurses and physician assistants.

Stay Current With These Objectives

After completing this activity, participants will be able to do the following:

  • Summarize the most important research findings presented at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease (AASLD) related to these key topic areas: portal hypertension, hepatic encephalopathy, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, liver cancer, liver transplantation, fatty liver disease, and alcoholic liver disease
  • Appraise these data in terms of their applications to clinical practice
  • Compare and contrast new therapeutic modalities as they relate to established therapies and describe their potential side effect profiles
  • Select the most effective screening and monitoring strategies for identifying and managing patients with liver disease
  • Discuss ongoing clinical trials and analyze their potential effect on clinical practice
