Description

Liver Update helps health care providers who treat patients with liver disease stay abreast of current research and clinical trials presented at the recent American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) meeting. Expert faculty present the most clinically germane research, synthesize the findings, and discuss their implications for clinical practice. This series provides a valuable opportunity for practitioners not able to attend the national meeting to stay abreast of the most clinically important research.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe the current guidelines for hepatitis C infection screening.
  2. Identify current treatments of hepatitis C infection and management of their resulting adverse events.
  3. Indicate the importance of screening patients for hepatitis B prior to receiving chemotherapy.
  4. Calculate quantitative hepatitis B surface antigen to predict clearance of virus.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for all health care providers who treat patients with liver disease including internists, family practitioners, gastroenterologists, hepatologists, gastrointestinal surgeons, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.
