This one-day educational activity will provide an in-depth review and analysis of current state-of-the-art practices in calcium and osteoporosis along with diagnosis and treatment approaches. The course will cover topics such as rare bone disease, hyperparathyroidism, Transplant Osteoporosis and presentation of unique cases and more.
Who should attend?
The course is designed for a multidisciplinary audience. Physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioner, residents, fellows, and other health care professionals in endocrinology, primary care, women’s health and women’s health are invited to attend.
After completing this course, participants will be able to:
- Review bone medications for the management of osteopenia/osteoporosis.
- Describe bone health and renal hyperparathyroidism before and after kidney transplant.
- Identify and address common imaging pitfalls associated with DEXA (Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry), neck ultrasound, SPECT/CT, and 4D CT, including challenges in image interpretation, and the impact of these pitfalls on diagnostic accuracy and treatment planning in both medical and surgical settings.
- Evaluate the role of calcium medications in the management of bone cancer, including their mechanisms of action, clinical indications, and potential side effects.
- Evaluate the pathophysiology, genetic basis, clinical presentation, and diagnostic criteria for Familial Hypercalciuria Hypercalcemia.
- Describe the management of bone health before major joint replacement surgery.
