This activity is designed for family physicians, general internists, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, fellows, residents, and other health care professionals who have an interest in primary care, women’s health and behavioral medicine.

Course Objectives
By attending, you will be able to:


Thursday – Primary Care

  • Summarize the most recently published data from research and clinical trials and discuss their clinical implications for primary care medicine including men’s urologic disorders, cardiovascular disease prevention, identification and treatment of measles, scleroderma diagnosis and care, celiac disease diagnosis and management, and the non-pharmacological treatment of back pain with focus on osteopathic manipulative therapy.
  • Interpret and assess sleep study information and employ counseling on appropriate technological interventions for the management of obstructive sleep apnea including CPAP, BiPAP, Inspire and others.

Friday – Women’s Health

  • Critically appraise the benefits and risks and use of evidence-based guidelines for the management of hormone replacement therapy, fertility preservation, stress management, screening and identification of ovarian cancer and multiple sclerosis, the management of pelvic floor dysfunction, obesity and hair loss in women.
  • Provide the most up-to-date screening and risk assessment guidelines for breast cancer and ovarian cancer.  

Saturday – Behavioral Medicine

  • Assess and care for patients with behavioral health disorders including alcohol use disorder, mood disorders, and depression in older adults using both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment.
  • Identify and manage addiction related diseases including bacterial infections and liver disease using an evidence-based approach.
  • Screen for addiction disorders and identify risks and implications associated with the chronic use of marijuana.
