Description

Medical Dermatology Therapy Update online series will provide a review of traditional therapeutics, as well as biologic and small-molecule therapies, as it applies to a range of important medical dermatologic conditions. In addition it includes an overview of the pathogenesis and diagnosis of various medical dermatologic diseases.

The Non-Melanoma Skin Cancer adaptive learning module will review identification, diagnosis, and management for patients with non-melanoma skin cancer. Adaptive learning is a unique opportunity to truly engage in education that is more inclusive and designed for the unique learners. Be sure to participate in all five adaptive learning cases that are a part of this educational series, as you will have a custom experience with each one.

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe the pathogenesis of basal cell carcinoma.
  2. Describe the mechanism of action and side effects of vismodegib and sonidegib.
  3. Review indications for FDA approved hedgehog inhibitors and immunotherapy for skin cancer.
  4. Describe and be familiar with patient counseling with vismodegib.
  5. Review FDA approved systemic agents to treat cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma.

Target Audience

These activities are directed to physicians and advanced practice clinicians in dermatology, immunology, oncology, rheumatology, internal medicine, and other health care professionals caring for patients with autoimmune, chronic inflammatory, and advanced malignant diseases.
