Call for Abstracts
Abstract Submission Guidelines
We invite you to submit a research abstract for a poster session at the 19th Annual Obesity Summit supported by the Cleveland Clinic Center for Quantitative Metabolic Research. The poster sessions will be held in person in Cleveland, Ohio, at the InterContinental Hotel Cleveland Clinic, on Friday, May 8, 2026, and Saturday, May 9, 2026. This poster session provides an opportunity to share your work with peers and connect with others conducting research in related areas. We welcome abstract submissions focused on obesity, diabetes, or metabolic disease.
Submissions are open to Cleveland Clinic medical professionals, scientists, and trainees. Abstracts will be considered for one of two poster sessions and for one of three Abstract of Distinction awards. Abstracts are welcome from clinical, translational, electronic health record, and basic research—all research categories are encouraged. This poster session is held in collaboration with the Cleveland Clinic Center for Quantitative Metabolic Research. To learn more about the center, please visit their website: Quantitative Metabolic Research | Cleveland Clinic Research.

Presenter Availability Expectations
We kindly ask that presenters be available to stand with their posters on Friday, May 8, 2026, from 5:00–6:30 PM, as this is expected to be the highest-traffic viewing period and offers the longest opportunity for interaction with attendees. If you need to leave before 6:30 PM, that is completely fine; however, we kindly ask that you plan to be present for at least one hour if possible. You are welcome—but not required—to be physically present at your poster during the other viewing sessions. If you choose to leave your poster up for Saturday self-viewing, your presence is not required during Saturday’s session, although you are welcome to attend.
Please submit an abstract only if you are available to:
- Set up your poster between 7:00–9:00 AM on Friday
- Stand next to your poster and interact with attendees during the Friday evening reception
- Either take down your poster by 6:45 PM on Friday, or leave your poster up all day Saturday and retrieve it between 3:00–4:15 PM on Saturday, or allow us to remove it on your behalf on Saturday
If your abstract is accepted for a poster session, we will ask you to confirm your poster removal plan at that time.
Poster Session Format
These will be walk-around poster sessions. There will be no scheduled oral presentations. Attendees will view posters at their own pace and may engage in discussion directly with presenters when they are present at their posters. If a presenter is not available, attendees may self-view the poster.
Prior or Future Abstracts/Posters
You may submit an abstract and/or poster previously presented at another conference (encore presentation), or an abstract and/or poster that you plan to present at a future conference.
Official Language
Abstracts must be submitted in English.
Abstract Text Requirements
- Length: The abstract text, including any headings, must fit within the allotted space in the submission form. The maximum length is 500 characters.
- Abbreviations: Standard medical and scientific abbreviations are acceptable. All other abbreviations should be spelled out at first use, followed by the abbreviation in parentheses.
Supporting Files
You may optionally upload one additional supporting file to accompany your abstract submission (e.g., table, figure, image, or other supplemental material).
After Abstract Acceptance
If your abstract is accepted, you will receive additional information regarding poster session logistics and specifications.
Abstract of Distinction Awards
Staff from the Center for Quantitative Metabolic Research will review abstracts for poster acceptance and for Abstract of Distinction awards, which include monetary prizes:
- 1st Place: $300
- 2nd Place: $200
- 3rd Place: $100
There are no prizes for the posters themselves, and no judging will take place during the poster sessions. All judging determinations will be made prior to the sessions and will be based on abstracts only.
