Questions and multiple-choice answers about the case presented include the rationale for the correct answer. Throughout this case-based lesson, you may proceed to the next question once you answer the question correctly.

Learning Objectives

After completing this case the reader should be able to:

  • Discuss strategies for assessing psoriasis severity and its value in selecting appropriate treatment options.
  • Describe the relationship between psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis and the importance of screening for psoriatic arthritis in patients with psoriasis.
  • Recognize treat-to-target goals for patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis.
  • Summarize the safety and efficacy of the various biologic classes available to treat psoriasis.
  • Debate the evidence linking biologic treatment with the risk of future cardiovascular events in patients with psoriasis.
  • Identify new medications approved to treat psoriasis.

Directed to primary care physicians including family practitioners and internists.
